Walking in the Spirit

Recently I have been really focusing on understanding how it is to walk in the Spirit.

1 John 2:6

“the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.”

It’s hard to walk in the Spirit when you are not living the days giving God the glory He openly deserves. I have days in which my fruits are dry. I started this Bible plan on the Bible app titled “Live by the Spirit” by John Piper. Starting my day and ending my day reading God’s word, praying, and praising Him makes a difference in my day to day life. Have you noticed when you DON’T pray or read your attitude is just constantly aggravated? Me too. In retrospect God asks us to glorify Him in all that we do, seems easy? Not completely. We have to add in our excuses. Tiredness, stress, family, entertainment, school, work, homework, the list goes on. When we truly think about what Jesus did for us our excuses look foolish.

1 Peter 2:24

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

Jesus obeyed His father in Heaven. Just imagine God saying to you, now go on and spread the Gospel, love others, heal people, and after all that die on the cross for their sins. How willing would you be to take this up? If you paused with your answer, well you have your answer. It’s not easy by all means to drop everything and truly love others who aren’t family. To have a true love for others we need to remember to put God at the center. We need to focus on allowing the Spirit to work from the inside out. That when people see you, they know that you have the heart of the Spirit in you.

Galatians 5:16-17

"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.”

Ephesians 5:2

“and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

I encourage you to start your Bible plans, listen to Shane & Shane and spend the time you have glorying and loving God. We will have days where we are in a drought and we are in need of God’s water to help our fruits grow. The Lord loves us, the Lord calls for us and He will never leave you.

Deuteronomy 31:8

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
